The bunker of the 77th reserve division of the German army near the Egyptian Lutheran Church
Bunkeris
Located on a slope near the A13 highway. Well visible, the approach from a small gravel road leading from the side of the Egyptian Church.
The bunker is located on the second defense line (Zweite Stellung, later also Hintere Linie) several kilometers away from the main battle or first line (Hauptkampflinie). Served as headquarters of the 257th reserve infantry regiment, where the officers of the regiment worked and lived. That is why the name "Officers' Bunker" has become popular. Electricity was available in the bunker. A porch with simulated windows has been created for the bunker, which is a rarely observed solution. Initially, when the front stabilized in 1915. in autumn, trenches and wooden bunkers were built. The concrete bunkers that have survived to this day were built later - the pioneer battalion of the 77th division received the order for the construction of concrete structures in the second line in 1916. in January-February. The task was difficult because the ground was frozen and unsuitable for digging, it was blasted.
The bunker is closed every day. Visitors can view the bunker from the outside and enter the porch.
