What the tour includes

Raadi Military Airfield offers an opportunity to explore the site of Estonia's first flights and later one of the largest military air bases in Eastern Europe, while allowing you to imagine both the courageous attempts of early pilots to take to the air and the military routine of the Cold War that took place here for decades. The Monument to the Liberators of Southern Estonia at the Raadi Cemetery provides an opportunity to trace the complex fate of the monument - from its conception and incompleteness during the interwar period, through destruction during World War II to its revival during the period of restoration of independence. The Tehtvere Battle Monument symbolizes different times - from the symbolism of the victory of the freedom struggle to its demolition and ideological transformation during the occupation and restoration after independence. The Tartu War of Independence Monument allows you to experience how the riverbank became a place of memory, where people continued to commemorate the fallen, carrying flowers and candles even during the ban, until the monument regained its original meaning. The KGB Cell Museum in Tartu reflects a very difficult experience, where, entering authentic prison cells, you can feel the atmosphere of isolation and control, while at the same time getting to know the stories of the resistance movement and thinking about the price of freedom. The Jalaka Anti-Tank Line allows you to walk through preserved trenches on the outskirts of Tartu and try to understand the reality of war preparations in 1941, when local residents were involved in the construction of fortifications, and see how these places later also acquired a commemorative meaning. The Estonian Aviation Museum reveals a wide world of aviation with dozens of aircraft, allowing you to feel both inside the cockpits and in the era of Cold War technology and experience the story of the development of aviation firsthand. The Reola Battle Monument provides an opportunity to return to the events of 1919, imagining the battle for the defense of Tartu, and at the same time see how the monument has been destroyed and restored several times, becoming a symbol of memory and resistance.
