Ruhnu tuletorni legend
The parts of the boiler plate lighthouse produced in the factory were transported by Ruhnu ship.

To get the heavy metal parts to the top of Håubjärre Hill they paved a cobblestone road, leading there from Limo Beach over the sand dunes, which can be seen to this day. There were some hiccups during assembly, with certain components not wanting to fit together very well and some fastening details running out. Legend has it that an unfortunate accident took place during construction, with one of the assemblers sliding down to the bottom of one of the buttresses, from which he could not be rescued. People say that prior to designing his engineering masterpiece in Paris, Gustave Eiffel prepared the plans for the lighthouse in Ruhnu. There is no evidence to either confirm or refute this claim, but one thing is for certain: Ruhnu Lighthouse is a French creation.

Ruhnu tuletorn
Ruhnu tuletorn asub saare kõrgeimas tipus, Håubjärre (Haubjerre) künka otsas.
1875. aastal telliti Prantsusmaalt Le Havre’ist firmalt Forges et chantiers de la Méditerranée metalltorni detailid ja T.r. Sautter, Lemonnier & Co firmast püsiva tulega II järgu dioptriline aparaat. 1876. aastal olid detailid kohal ning kokkumonteeritud tuletorn alustas tööd 1877. aastal. 40 meetri kõrgune tuletorn koosneb silindrilisest torust, mida külgedelt toetavad kaldu asetatud toed. Toru sees asub keerdtrepp, mis viib ülemisse teenindusruumi, mille ülaosale toetub laternaruum. Valgusseade töötas neljatahilise petrooleumilambiga, tuli asus merepinnast 66 meetri kõrgusel. 1. mail 1915. a lasksid sakslased sõjategevuse käigus laternaruumi puruks. 1921. aastal ehitati ajutine teenindusruum. Teenindus- ja laternaruum taastati muudetud kujul aastatel 1936-1937 insener Ants Niilre projekti järgi. Tänaseni on tuletorni juures säilinud 19. sajandi teisel poolel ehitatud teenindushooned.
