On the World War I map, the section of the road (now Baldones – Tomes road, V4) is named “Düna Straße” – Daugavas street or Daugavas road. To the north of it were Tomes manor (Gut Tomsdorf), Rata hill and a dense network of small forest roads and trails, each of which was given its own name on the maps of the German army of World War I. During World War I, the Daugavas road was crossed by a narrow-gauge railway (starting from Gediņi station “Bahnhoff Gedeng” on the World War I railway Vecumnieki - Mercendarbe, 1435 mm wide), the tracks of which then went towards the Daugava. At the Sili houses it crossed Silupi (Kausupi) (former station "Bhf. Sille), but at the Podnieki houses it branched. The first branch went right to Berkavu, and the second left to Vilki hills and then returned to the broad gauge (1435 mm) railway at Skarbe station. Today, the 17 km long and winding gravel road connecting Baldone with Tome winds through a larger forest massif, crossing an inland dune area, the highest peak of which is Rata hill – 67.8 m above sea level. The Baldone – Tome road is an old historical road that had military strategic importance during both world wars of the 20th century.

“Bhf. (Bahnhoff) Salit ”-“ Meža Sīlīši ”was not the final station for that railway, but the tracks went further in the direction of the Daugava. The railway crosses Silupe near the houses of Silu. Here was the station “Bhf. Further off at Podnieki 's house, it branched off. The first branch to the right to Berkava.
