Gallery "Bunker" Muziejus
Gallery "Bunkers" is located in the basement of an apartment building, in an authentic Soviet-era civil defense bunker, which has retained its heavy original metal doors. It is a place where more than 300 objects from several periods of history are exhibited: end of the 20th century the beginning of World War I and World War II, the period of Latvia's independence and the Soviet era. Exhibits are widely represented - maps, posters, gas masks, various protective equipment, special clothing, radiation measuring instruments, etc., which reflect the theme of civil protection. It is possible to see various exhibits of the so-called "post-Soviet modernism": Honorary articles, flags of work collectives, pennants, as well as certificates, certificates, passports of USSR citizens, bonds, etc.
The gallery displays old cards, postcards, newspapers, banknotes and coins. Various means of communication are considered - Morse code, telephones, payphone equipment and telegraphs. The extensive collection is complemented by wooden counters, counting machines, radios, pumps, badges, street signs, various clothes, including school uniforms. The collection includes busts of Soviet "leaders" from several places in Latvia and abroad. There are also very rare specimens - objects used by the staff of the State Security Committee (KSC) and even a horse's gas mask.
"Bunkers" regularly hosts collectors' meetings and exhibitions of various private collection exhibits.
Visit to the object only by prior arrangement!
