This tour in Tallinn introduces students to significant sites of military history and occupation heritage from the First World War to the Soviet occupation period. By visiting the Paterei Sea Fortress and the Lennusadam Museum, students will be able to understand both the harsh reality of war and repression, as well as the development of naval and aviation technologies. The route offers an exciting and emotionally engaging opportunity to learn about history in an authentic environment.

What the tour includes

The Patarei Sea Fortress offers the opportunity to enter a real historical prison, where you can see how this place changed from a fortress to a barracks and later a prison, feeling the very real imprint of the past. The Seaplane Harbour offers a completely different experience – entering a huge seaplane hangar, where you can see a real submarine, an icebreaker and airplanes, as if you were part of the maritime adventure yourself. Together, these places allow students not only to “learn history”, but to live it – from the severity of war and occupation to the exciting side of freedom and technology.
