The Bauska Museum exposition “Bauska in the time of Bauska and people in Bauska in the 20th century” is located in the Bauska Museum. The exposition is designed as a historical walk through the streets of ancient Bauska and reflects the history of the city from the beginning of the 20th century to the 1970s and 1980s. The influence and consequences of political regimes and military processes can be observed in Bauska from 1940 to 1980. Arriving in the city in the 1940s, you can see what happened there and how the townspeople lived during the Soviet period in 1940–1941, during the German period in 1941–1944 and at the end of World War II, when the city was thoroughly destroyed. The exposition includes military uniforms and weapons of the USSR and German armies. Post-war photographs depict the transformations that affected Bauska and the people of Bauska in later years. The opportunity to look into the Chekist's office reveals that large USSR state security forces were concentrated in Bauska in the late 1940s and early 1950s, as there was a strong national resistance movement in the area in the post-war years.

The museum is open to visitors from Tuesday to Sunday, Monday to Friday 10:00 – 18:00, Saturday, Sunday from 10:00 – 16:00

From November 1 to April 30, the museum is open on weekdays from 10:00 to 17:00.
