The “Bunker” Gallery is located in the basement of an apartment building, in an authentic Soviet-era civil defense bunker, which has preserved its heavy original metal doors. It is a place where more than 300 objects are exhibited, which relate to several stages of history: the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, World Wars I and II, the period of the Independent State of Latvia and the Soviet era. The exhibits are widely represented - maps, posters, gas masks, various protective equipment, special clothing, radiation measuring instruments, etc. items that reflect the theme of civil defense. There is an opportunity to view various so-called “post-Soviet modernism” exhibits: Honorary certificates, flags of work collectives, pennants, as well as certificates, certificates, passports of USSR citizens, bonds, etc.
The gallery displays old maps, postcards, newspapers, banknotes and coins. Various means of communication can be viewed – Morse code, telephones, payphones and telegraphs. The extensive collection is complemented by wooden counters, counting machines, radios, pumps, badges, street signs, various clothing, including school uniforms. The collection includes busts of Soviet “leaders” from several places in Latvia and abroad. Also on display are quite rare specimens – items used by employees of the State Security Committee (KGB) and even a horse gas mask.

“Bunkur” regularly hosts meetings of collectors and exhibitions of exhibits from various private collections.

Visiting the facility is only possible by prior arrangement!
