This border checkpoint is situated on Noarootsi peninsula. It was established to guard the two roads leading to the peninsula.
The small, two-storey building here was erected in the early 1980s and used to have a boom barrier. The checkpoint was not staffed around the clock, only being used if required.
After the Soviet forces were pulled out of Estonia, President Lennart Meri, who often stayed at the Paslepa summer residence on the peninsula, demanded that the checkout be demolished. However, the locals opposed this, wanting it to be preserved as a historical site.
