Sculpture of the goddess of victory Nike
Memorial site

A monument to the Goddess of Victory, Nike, was erected in Radviliškis' Dawn Square.

The sculpture was unveiled in the center of Radviliškis in 1999, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory over the Bermontites. The Battle of Radviliškis took place on November 21–22, 1919, when the Lithuanian army fought against the Bermontites, seeking to liberate Šiauliai and Radviliškis. Two infantry regiments led by Kazys Ladyga participated in the fighting. After stubborn clashes, the Bermontites were forced to retreat, leaving behind large stocks of weapons and ammunition. This battle accelerated the Bermontites' withdrawal from Lithuania.

The bronze sculpture of the goddess Nike, created by Petras Mazūras, standing on a stylized cannon, symbolizes the nation's pursuit of freedom and victory, and the sword held by the goddess symbolizes gratitude and respect for the soldiers who fought for Lithuania's independence. The victory over the Bermontites in 1919 strengthened Lithuania's image in Europe as an independent and determined state, thus thwarting Germany's ambition to establish itself in Lithuania and other Baltic states.
