The "Heroes' Grove" planted near the Burtnieki Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1934 and the monument to the 56 sons of the Burtnieki parish who died in the First World War and the War of Independence were unveiled on August 15, 1937.
The monument, which depicts a virgin, which rests on the stomach with her right elbow, carries the names of the fallen members of the congregation - 31 from Burtnieki, 13 from Rencēni and 12 from Jaunburtnieki parish.

The "Heroes' Grove" and the monument are located next to the Burtnieki Evangelical Lutheran Church, which is one of the brightest examples of Vidzeme's late Gothic and Baroque. During the Soviet era, in the sixties, the church was expropriated from the church, stood empty, looted and demolished. The congregation was rebuilt in 1988.
Next to the church is the Burtnieki rectory - built in the 18th century. in the second half of the 20th century. restored in the 1990s. The archives of the pastoral manor show the books of the old church. It contains records of people with birth data even from 1720.
