Here rest two Russian soldiers who were shot by German troops on 7 (20, new style.) October 1917 near the stables of Partsi Manor. The locals buried them in said grave and erected a gravestone.

In October 1917 German forces captured the island of Saaremaa as part of Operation Albion. Since the Russian forces, having collapsed amid the Russian Revolution, put up no real fight, the Germans decided to capture the island of Hiiumaa as well. Invading from Sõru harbour, the Germans advanced slowly to give the Russian troops time to flee the island. Capturing enemies was avoided, as prisoners of war were costly to maintain. Around 20 Russian soldiers were killed in minor skirmishes, while 750 or so were captured. Two were shot as a warning to the others against not following orders. The gravestone, which still stands in Partsi in their memory, reads: “Two Russian soldiers from Akmolinsk. Died 7 (20, N.S.) Oct 1917.“
