Hunting in Saaremaa

A world-famous Soviet and Russian small arms engineer visited Saaremaa.

In January 1980, the world-famous Soviet and Russian small arms engineer, Mikhail Kalashnikov, inventor of the legendary Kalashnikov assault rifle, visited the border post. He hunted wild animals in the surrounding forests. There is a photo of Kalashnikov with other hunters near the shore of the outpost. Could the wild boar skin found in the attic of a former guesthouse belong to the same wild boar (pictured) that Kalashnikov hunted? Our goal is to restore the outpost’s shooting range, where you can shoot a Kalashnikov assault rifle.
