In 2020, I.Kupce tells the story of her family member's father-in-law's experience in the Grieze Soviet filtration camp in 1945, after the surrender of the German army in Kurzeme.

“My father-in-law, who graduated from the air force in 1945, was in a prisoner of war camp, which was located in a fenced field next to the church in the house “Meijas”. The Red Army conducted interrogations in the house. The residents were driven out of the field and could only return around June 20. A lady lives there now, who was lucky to meet someone who had been in the camp and remained alive. Some of the guys who tried to escape were shot by the Red Army. She was 16 at the time, my father-in-law turned 18 right in the camp.”
