Observation bunker near Matīšiei Bunker
Located on a hill, in an open field near the Matīši house. Access is either from the north, leaving the vehicle slightly behind the Ķieģeļnīcas cemetery and walking about 300 meters, or walking along the edge of the field and using the mobile communications base tower as a landmark.
Taking into account the prevailing height (171.3m) and the long visibility over the enemy side, a concrete artillery observation point was established here. The artillery positions themselves were located to the south under the cover of the hill. The observation sectors are directed to the N and NE. An artillery battery was located to the south under the cover of the hill. A narrow-gauge railway branch from the Zarasai side (west side) allegedly led to this position; it was even marked on the Russian army's reconnaissance map, which was mostly made up of aerial reconnaissance data. Currently, the exact location of the railway branch in nature has not yet been found.
Today, the observation bunker is partially sunken into the ground and has no cover, but from the observation embrasures
