The graves were consecrated on September 22, 2007. The consecration was organized by the National Association for the Care of German War Graves. German soldiers who fell in the Riga area and other regions of Latvia, numbering approximately twenty thousand, are reburied in this cemetery. At the time of the consecration of the graves, more than 1,900 soldiers were already laid to rest there, including 30 Latvian soldiers. In 2021, more than 5,600 soldiers were reburied here.
