This monument is situated in Vabaduse Park in Pärnu and commemorates those who fought in World War II. It was designed by Kuno Raude. In 2002, a monument depicting an Estonian soldier in a German uniform was unveiled at the site. The city government had it removed and the monument was relocated to Lihula. In 2003, a new monument with a more neutral design was unveiled, inscribed with the text: "To those who fought for the restoration of Estonian independence during World War II". The black granite monument is adorned with a familiar motive from the Cross of Liberty – a hand holding a sword beneath the letter E.
