Soviet coastal defense battery No. 22, built on the Pakri Peninsula, was completed in 1941 and was armed with four 130 mm guns. The complex included four reinforced concrete artillery positions, a command post, a rangefinder post, a gas-tight crew shelter, and technical buildings. When the Soviet troops retreated in August 1941, the artillery positions and the command post were blown up. Some of the ruins have survived on the Pakri Peninsula to this day. The Paldiski observation platform, built on the battery's former rangefinder base, collapsed into the sea in January 2024 after long-term erosion.
