Türisalu anti-aircraft missile base Military town
The Türisalu or Keila-Joa anti-aircraft missile base was part of the Tallinn air defense system of the Soviet Union. One division group of the 94th anti-aircraft missile brigade was located here, and the complex was one of the largest of its kind in Estonia. Several missile launch complexes, technical and service buildings, and a military camp were built on the territory of the base. The new facilities were partly located in the area of the trenches and positions of the Peter the Great sea fortress from the First World War, which is why the site combines the heritage of two very different military eras. Several former launch positions are still clearly recognizable in the landscape today.
