The Miiduranna coastal defense battery was established in 1915 as Battery No. 13 of the Peter the Great Sea Fortress to protect the eastern approach to Tallinn Bay. During the Republic of Estonia, the facility was re-commissioned as Coastal Battery No. 7 and in the 1920s it was armed with 120 mm Vickers guns. After the occupation of Estonia in 1940, the battery became part of the Soviet Baltic Fleet and became number 185. When the Soviet troops retreated from Tallinn in August 1941, the battery was blown up. Today, the ruins of the command post and other defense facilities remain on the landscape.
