The Eastern Front line of World War I, which separated the Russian and German trenches, ran along the eastern outskirts of the Ignalina district and Lithuania, near Tverečius, Mielagėnai, and Adutiškis. It was used from October 1915 to February 1918. German soldiers repaired roads around the front line, built footbridges across wetlands, and built a narrow-gauge railway.

Reinforced concrete structures for various purposes have survived: infantry shelters, residential bunkers, command posts, equipment and ammunition depots. Most of them are located in the Guntauninkai village of the Mielagėnai eldership, as well as in the Tverečius and Didžiasalis elders.

German military buildings of various purposes, located on a 50 km stretch on both sides of the Adutiškis-Vidžiai road. Their exact number is unknown (some are in Belarus). There are 6 in the villages of Raščiūnai and Guntauninkai. The fortifications are in the shape of a rectangular parallelepiped or a semi-cylinder. Most of the buildings are concrete.
