The monument is dedicated to the memory of the partisans of the Vizbutos Company of the Samogitian Regional Sword Detachment operating in the Darbėnai area. On June 3, 1950, the commander of the Samogitian Regional Sword Detachment Juozas Paulauskas, chief of staff Kazimieras Martinkus and partisans Justinas Rimkus, Leonora Viluckaitė, and Vytautas Zaleckas died in the fight against the Soviet occupiers. The monumental metal cross is also dedicated to the memory of Stasis Lisauskas, a member of the Sword Detachment staff who died in the forest of the village of Žibininkai on February 7, 1949. The monument was erected in 1995 through the efforts of Stanislovas Burba, a partisan war memorialist, and at the initiative of the author of the monument, Adolfas Kontrimas.
