In 2025, a memorial was unveiled in the square near the Baltinava Museum to the murdered 23 Jewish families of Baltinava (more than 100 people in total), whose lives were cut short on August 12, 1941, in the Balasta swamp forest near Abrene. The sign was made with the support of Wayne Bizer, who lives in the USA, because his ancestors come from Baltinava.

You can book an excursion at the nearby Baltinava Museum and explore the cultural and historical landscape and stories of the area.
