A monument to commemorate the historical marches of Lithuanian freedom fighters across the Baltic Sea in 1944–1953.
Memorial site
During the second Soviet occupation and the partisan war, the Baltic Sea became not only a route for emigration, but also a connection for Lithuanian partisans with the West, mainly with Sweden. Not only Lithuanian, but also Latvian and Estonian partisans and intelligence agents traveled across the Baltic Sea by boats and ships. In 2011, a memorial stone was erected in the middle of a small traffic circle on Kopų Street, the central street of Šventoji, near the Beždžionys Bridge. It is intended to commemorate the historical marches of the fighters for Lithuanian freedom, carried out in the Baltic Sea in 1944–1953, and to perpetuate the ties of the participants of the Lithuanian resistance to the occupation with Western countries.
