The Riflemen's House is a unique interwar Lithuanian Riflemen's Union building designed to fulfill not only the military but also the cultural function of society. The Dusetė Riflemen's House is one of 60 architectural examples of this type of building in Lithuania. Its construction began at the initiative of the Dusetė Riflemen's Unit in 1935, and was opened in 1937. The local community actively participated in the construction by collecting monetary donations, providing building materials and assisting in the construction work. The design of these houses reflects the trends in Lithuanian architecture of the 1930s - a combination of functionalism and national style. The design of the Riflemen's House is rectangular in plan, with large windows, a glazed veranda and a spacious second-floor balcony. During the interwar period, the Dusetė Riflemen's Unit headquarters, library, district court and court bailiff were located there. A 500-seat hall with a large stage and rooms for the orchestra was also installed.
