Former partisan camp in the Mūša gorge Bunker

A partisan campsite was set up on the Mūša Tyrelis educational trail, in a former spruce forest, very close to the swamp.

In the Mūša Tyrelis swamp in 1945–1946. was the location of the camp and headquarters of the partisan "Genius" detachment, led by Lieutenant Martynas Kliusius-Tautvydas. The so-called Stone Island located in the swamp was the partisan center: partisans from Gruzdžiai, Šakyna, Kruopiai, Joniškis gathered there. Meetings of division, detachment, and platoon commanders took place here. Tyrelis island was in a beautiful place, and around it were marshes and swamps - a place difficult to access.

A memorial stone with a plaque has now been erected at the site of the campsite.
