The anti-aircraft artillery battery (German: “Batterie Schweinsrücken”) is located in Smiltyne, a part of Klaipėda on the Curonian Spit.
The anti-aircraft artillery battery is a component of the German Navy's coastal and anti-aircraft defense system, which began construction in 1939 after the Klaipėda region was annexed to Germany and military fortification work began in the city. The main function of the battery was the anti-aircraft defense of the city of Klaipėda. In 1939–1944, the anti-aircraft battery was armed with four 128 mm Flak-40 anti-aircraft guns, and the battery's buildings consisted of gun positions, underground rooms, a command post, an ammunition arsenal storage facility, and an electric generator building.
